Things locals love
Sun Lakes is one of the East Valley's most established and sought-after active adult communities. It sits just south of Chandler with quick access to the Loop 202 and I-10. Downtown Chandler is an easy drive, Sky Harbor is about 30 minutes, and groceries, dining, and medical offices are minutes from every neighborhood.
It's home to five country club communities: Sun Lakes 1, Cottonwood, Palo Verde, Ironwood, and Oakwood. Think resort living with small-town warmth. IronOaks (Ironwood plus Oakwood) is the most modern and amenity-rich, with gated entries, well-kept streets, and activities all year.
Golfers get championship and short courses for every skill level, with views across lakes and fairways. Everyone else gets tennis, pickleball, bocce, heated pools, fitness classes, and walking paths.
Friday nights bring live music. Over 50 resident-led clubs keep the calendar full, from hiking and RV travel to crafts and theater.
Banner Ocotillo Medical Center and Chandler Regional Medical Center are nearby, along with specialists, pharmacies, and urgent care.
Ongoing upgrades include a major golf course renovation, a new Wellness Center, and updated security systems.
SunBird: classic, close-knit, and gated

SunBird is classic Arizona resort living in a friendly, close-knit community just south of Riggs Road in Chandler. This gated 55+ neighborhood is built around a well-kept 18-hole executive golf course, with palm-lined streets and lake views.
A typical day: golf or pickleball in the morning, a dip in the heated pool in the afternoon, and dinner with friends at the Horizon Room, the social hub of the neighborhood.
The clubhouse has a ballroom, fitness center, billiards, library, and craft rooms. More than 40 clubs keep things busy all year, from hiking and cards to travel and dances.
Groceries, restaurants, and medical offices are all within 5 minutes. The Loop 202 and I-10 make Sky Harbor about a 30-minute drive.
Solera: a Del Webb community on a manageable scale

Solera is one of Chandler's premier gated Del Webb 55+ communities, set along Lone Tree Golf Club. It's a neighborhood of single-level homes, only about 1,150 of them, so it feels like a neighborhood and not a small city.
Lone Tree is an 18-hole public course with a full practice facility and a popular bar and grill overlooking the 18th green. Not a golfer? Solera's private clubhouse has a fitness center, ballroom, hobby studios, and both indoor and outdoor pools.
You also get views of the San Tan Mountains, pickleball, tennis, bocce, and miles of walking trails nearby. Fry's Marketplace, medical centers, and downtown Chandler dining are just minutes away.
Springfield: low-key, with big-community amenities

Springfield is a lively but low-key 55+ golf community tucked into south Chandler near Riggs and McQueen. Built by Pulte Homes, it pairs small-town charm with big-community amenities. A good fit if you want a slower pace without giving up quality.
It's built around an 18-hole executive golf course, with wide streets, neat yards, and a recently updated clubhouse with a restaurant, fitness center, billiards, and event space. Residents enjoy pickleball, tennis, swimming, crafts, and community concerts, all steps from home.
At around 750 homes, it's small enough that neighbors turn into friends fast. There's a full calendar of events and clubs all year.
Downtown Chandler, shopping on Riggs Road, and Banner Ocotillo Medical Center are all nearby.

Yes. Oakwood and Cottonwood have townhome options. Sun Lakes 1 and SunBird have manufactured homes.
