In Arizona, your street address decides your assigned school. Not the zip code. Not the city name on the mailbox. Two homes a block apart can sit in different districts.

That’s why I check the boundary before I show you a single house. It takes a few minutes and it saves a lot of second-guessing.

South Tempe

Much of South Tempe is served by the Kyrene School District for kindergarten through eighth grade. Kyrene’s middle schools feed into the Tempe Union High School District, which runs six comprehensive high schools, including Corona del Sol, Desert Vista, Mountain Pointe, and Marcos de Niza.

Two things worth knowing. Parts of the area are served by other districts, so the address always decides. And Kyrene voted in December 2025 to close six schools over two years because enrollment has dropped. If a specific campus matters to you, ask the district where that stands today.

South Chandler

South Chandler is served by the Chandler Unified School District. It runs several high schools, including Basha and Hamilton, and assigns by street address. The district also has open enrollment, so some families choose a school outside their boundary when space allows.

One detail relocating families don’t expect: Hamilton High School runs on a modified year-round calendar. If your family plans around a summer schedule, ask early.

Questions Worth Asking Before You Tour

Which school is assigned to this exact address? What is the district’s calendar? Is there open enrollment, and is there room? What do before-care and after-care look like? Those answers matter more than any score on a website.
